Begin the JourneyBefore anything existed, God spoke -- and everything came into being. You were not an accident of history. You are the intentional creation of an intentional God.
"So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."
You were made in the image of God. You carry within you the imprint of your Creator -- a soul capable of knowing Him, loving Him, and living with Him forever. This is where the story begins.
Study the Gospels: Who is Jesus? →Adam and Eve chose their own way over God's. That choice -- the first act of human rebellion -- brought death, separation, and brokenness into a world made to be whole.
"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned."
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
This is the honest diagnosis. Every human being -- without exception -- has sinned. Sin creates a separation between us and God that we cannot bridge on our own.
Even in the moment of judgment, God made a promise. The entire sweep of the Old Testament -- its sacrifices, its prophecies, its covenants -- all pointed forward to One who was coming to make things right.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel."
Seven hundred years before Bethlehem, Isaiah wrote these words. The prophets were not guessing. They were seeing.
Study Old Testament Prophecies of Jesus →The promise became flesh. God did not send a representative or a prophet. He came Himself -- fully God, wrapped in human nature -- born of a virgin in Bethlehem, raised in Galilee, and manifested to the world.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory."
"For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."
Jesus of Nazareth was not one-third of God. He was the fullness of God in human form -- the complete expression of who God is, walking among us in time and space.
Begin the Gospel of John →He came to die. Not as a victim, but as a sacrifice -- the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. On a Roman cross outside Jerusalem, something happened that no theology fully contains: God paid the price for human sin.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
The cross was not God's plan B. It was God's plan from before the foundation of the world. Every drop of blood shed in the Levitical system was pointing to this moment.
Study the Eternal High Priest →Death could not hold Him. On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead -- bodily, visibly, verifiably. The resurrection is not a symbol or a metaphor. It is the event that changes everything.
"He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
"And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! But now Christ is risen from the dead."
Paul doesn't soften it: without the resurrection, the entire faith collapses. But He did rise. Death was defeated. The grave was emptied. And everything the cross purchased became available to those who would respond.
Study the Birth of the Church →The resurrection happened. The gift is available. But responding to the Gospel begins with repentance -- a genuine turning from sin to God that involves the whole person: mind, will, and heart.
"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."
Repentance is not just feeling sorry. It is a decisive change of direction -- from living for yourself to living for God. It is the door through which every other blessing must be entered.
Study the Doctrine of Repentance →On the Day of Pentecost, after the crowd cried out "What shall we do?", Peter's answer was direct: "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins." This was not a suggestion. Every baptism recorded in Acts followed this pattern.
Jerusalem -- 3,000 baptized in Jesus' name on Pentecost
Samaria -- baptized "in the name of the Lord Jesus"
Cornelius' household -- "baptized in the name of the Lord"
Ephesus -- disciples "baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus"

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."
The same promise that was given on the Day of Pentecost is still in effect today. "The promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." When the early church received the Holy Spirit, the evidence was speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gave utterance.
"And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."
"While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God."
Acts 2. Acts 10. Acts 19. Every time the Holy Spirit is given in Acts, tongues is the evidence. The promise has not expired. The Holy Spirit is still being poured out on those who seek Him.
Study the Evidence of the Holy Spirit →The new birth is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning. A life filled with the Holy Spirit is a life in active pursuit of God -- in holiness, in prayer, in the Word, in community, and in the mission of the Gospel.
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
"And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit."
You were not saved to live the same life you lived before. You were saved to be transformed -- renewed in your mind, changed in your desires, and equipped to share with others the same good news that changed you.
The Promise Still Stands
"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."
This is not a promise that expired with the apostles. Peter said it is for "as many as the Lord our God will call." That includes you, today, wherever you are.
