About This Commentary
The Book of Proverbs is a collection of inspired wise sayings, written largely by Solomon, to whom God gave unmatched wisdom, with later sections from other wise men and from Agur and King Lemuel. It teaches the skill of godly living: how to speak, work, handle money, choose friends, master the temper, and walk in integrity. Its foundation and recurring theme is the fear of the LORD, from which all true wisdom flows.
This commentary covers Proverbs verse by verse, with the Hebrew words that sharpen the meaning, verified background, and an Apostolic reading. The Wisdom that Proverbs personifies and exalts finds its fullness in Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. References are given at the foot of each chapter.
